access-933120_1280.png The topic of refugees in Germany is currently occupying the entire Federal Republic. Every day, one is confronted on television and the internet with images of thousands of people in need of help. Instead of just following the current events, many individuals and companies have already come up with various initiatives to actively support refugees in Germany. Companies in the web hosting sector are also part of this. Here, we would like to present some of these initiatives by web hosts:

UD Media supports refugee projects with free web space and a custom domain

Hosting provider UD Media from Erkelenz in the Rhineland region is providing free web space including a custom domain for refugee projects. The provider's initiative is primarily aimed at helpful citizens and institutions who want to bring their own projects to help refugees in Germany online, in order to generate more attention and reach. Action websites can be uploaded to a provided web space at UD Media free of charge and also receive a separate custom domain through which the content can then be accessed by anyone. Interested parties can contact UD Media directly via email at info@udmedia.de or by phone at 02431 9038190. Contact with the web host can also be made through social networks.

STRATO employees help refugees in Berlin

Strato AG, based in Berlin and one of the largest web hosts in Germany, organised a large donation drive for refugees last week. Within a few days, a complete conference room in Strato's offices was filled with donations for refugees. These mainly consisted of urgently needed items such as warm clothing, household goods of all kinds, and school materials. Subsequently, the transportation of the items to 12 refugee accommodations in Berlin was organised, where the donations were received with great joy. The initiative arose from the commitment of some employees and was promptly supported additionally by the company's management board. Suitable premises were provided, and the organisation was carried out even during working hours.

Internet service provider goneo supports organisations helping refugees in Germany

The goneo Internet GmbH from Minden in North Rhine-Westphalia has been offering support for organisations wishing to help refugees in Germany since mid-year. Aid associations and other institutions receive a free web space package from goneo to showcase their own actions on the internet and facilitate communication between those affected, authorities, and supporters through free email services. Additionally, a separate domain can be used free of charge to allow access for interested parties to the action page. All information and a contact form can be found on the provider's website at https://www.goneo.de/fluechtlingshilfe.html.

all-connect supports Helpers

The Munich data centre and IT system house now aims to initiate further aid. Particularly with their expertise and infrastructures, they aim to provide resources for long-term assistance and support aid projects and helpers. Ideas and projects have emerged in recent weeks – also in social media networks. The first websites are now online and pursue the following goals: coordinating helpers, clarifying needs, getting to know each other, informing, and telling stories of helpers and refugees. https://www.all-connect.net/all-connect-unterstuetzt-helfer/
