Introduction of a minimum price filter

Author: HOSTTEST Editorial   | 22 Aug 2023

From October 2023 Hosttest will introduce a minimum price as a default filter in the main Web hosting categories.

This is a filter option that sets a minimum price for the offers displayed. Visitors will see this filter as usual shown at the top under „Active filters:“, but will also be alerted to it. As with all filter options, the minimum price filter can be individually enabled or disabled by the visitor.

The filter will initially be enabled by default for the main categories Web hosting. The minimum price will initially be €2.95 for web hosting packages.

Visitors who are specifically looking for the cheapest offers can disable the filter or use the comparisons designed for this purpose such as affordable web hosting.

In our view the introduction of a minimum price is a positive step for both customers and providers.

On the providers’ side the minimum price guarantees that the service offered is fairly compensated and that fixed costs such as technical infrastructure and customer support can be adequately covered.

For customers the minimum price ensures that a consistently reliable service and an overall positive user experience can be expected and that loss-leading or bait offers can be ruled out.

As an independent comparison portal, hosttest is always committed to bringing together the interests of customers and providers in the hosting market.

We welcome feedback from both sides. If the test is successful in Q4 2023, the filter will be implemented permanently in 2024.
