Our Availability Test for Providers
Every provider registered on hosttest is regularly checked through our availability test. We check a URL specified by the provider for availability and retrieval speed. Once a successful or unsuccessful measurement is obtained, it is logged. This results in several hundred tests per testing period and provider.
This measurement determines the stated percentage availability and is displayed on the provider profile. The displayed availability always refers to a period of six months (as long as the provider was registered on hosttest during this period).
Please note that despite our tests, this is only a sample of a provider's availability. A provider typically has several hundred, if not thousands of servers operating for customers. Therefore, our test remains limited in its significance.
We therefore recommend paying attention to a provider's Server-Level Agreement (SLA), which usually guarantees server/hosting availability. We recommend a minimum guarantee of 99.5% annually.
