Introducing a Price Floor as Filter

Author: HOSTTEST Editorial   | 22 Aug 2023

Price Floors

From October 2023, Hosttest will introduce a price floor as a standard filter in the main categories of web hosting.

This is a filter option where a minimum price is set for the displayed offers. Visitors will see this filter as usual under "Active Filters:" at the top, but they will also be alerted to it by a notice. Like all filter options, the minimum price filter can be individually activated or deactivated by the visitor.

Initially, the filter will be activated by default for the main category of web hosting. The minimum price for web hosting packages will be set at 2.95 euros.

Visitors looking specifically for the most cost-effective offers can disable the filter or use dedicated comparisons such as cheap web hosting.

In our opinion, the introduction of the price floor is a positive step for both customers and providers.

For providers, the price floor ensures that the service offered is fairly compensated and that fixed costs such as technical infrastructure and customer support are adequately covered.

For customers, the price floor guarantees a consistently reliable offering and an overall positive user experience, while also preventing dumping or bait-and-switch offers.

As an independent comparison portal, Hosttest is always striving to align the interests of customers and providers in the hosting market.

We are open to feedback from both sides. If the test is successful in Q4 2023, the filter will be permanently implemented in 2024.

Updated on 18.10.23.
