Merger in the hosting market: dogado.group and group.ONE successfully merge

Author: HOSTTEST Editorial   | 6 Jul 2023

The merger of the successful dogado.group in the DACH region with the Scandinavian group.ONE, announced at the end of last year, has been successfully completed. With all brands of both companies under one roof, the new group.one emerges as a leading European provider of hosting solutions with over 2 million customers and more than £280 million in revenue annually.

The merger of the two companies, dogado.group and group.ONE, brings together two heavyweights in the European hosting market. The German dogado.group has been on a steady growth path for many years, making headlines with continuous acquisitions. Notable mergers include acquisitions of brands like alfahosting, Checkdomain, and RobHost. Similarly, group.ONE has steadily expanded its own brand portfolio over the years. Under the umbrella of the Scandinavian company are well-known brands such as the pan-European one.com, as well as local champions like Hostnet and WP Media. Through the merger, both companies can benefit from synergies, an expanded customer base, and diversification of offerings. Pooling resources ensures collective strength to keep pace with technological innovations and increasing competitive pressures in the industry.

In terms of organisation, Daniel Hagemeier, former CEO of dogado, will be the new CEO of the group, while Stephan Wolfram, former CEO of group.ONE, will take on the role of COO Mass Hosting. The management team will also be combined, with key areas to be filled with both industry-specific expertise and new skills. The new group.one has also introduced a new corporate identity to mark this new chapter in the company's history. The name of the new identity comes from one of the original companies, group.ONE, while dogado brings its distinctive branding colour called "Happy Yellow" and the hexagon symbol into the new corporate identity to emphasise the idea of unity and integration.

Hosttest had the opportunity to conduct a brief interview with Daniel Hagemeier, CEO of group.one, on the subject:

Hello Daniel, could you briefly outline the benefits of the merger?

Response: The merger of group.ONE and dogado.group offers numerous benefits to our customers: The two companies complement each other perfectly, not only geographically, but especially in terms of our products: On one hand, we offer strong, standalone software solutions for websites, e-commerce, and WordPress, on the other hand, we expand the offering to include enterprise-level customers and digital "Do-It-For-Me" marketing services. Together, we can combine vast expertise and the collective experience of our specialists to create even more sophisticated solutions for our current and future customers.

What will change for customers of your existing brands?

Response: Our more than 2 million customers are at the heart of our strategy and will continue to enjoy our products and services in the usual high quality. Behind the scenes, we are working intensively to best combine the newly acquired markets, customer segments, and products to offer our customer base an even more comprehensive product portfolio. At the same time, we aim to explore new markets and segments with united efforts. I am confident that together we will develop innovative solutions that will enrich our customers.

What are your plans for the near future?

Response: I can reveal this much: Our focus is clearly on growth. We will significantly expand our position as one of the leading providers of online presence solutions in Europe. And this can only be achieved with the best products for European customers.

Thank you for your responses, and I look forward to your continued growth!
