Contabo unveils a new VPS portfolio

Contabo splits its VPS portfolio into three distinct ranges: Core VPS, Performance VPS and Max Performance VPS. Each is built for a different type of project.

The idea behind it is simple: a WordPress blog and a production API have little in common beyond both running on Linux. A single range trying to serve both forces customers to make compromises. Three ranges address that precisely.

Core VPS is the cost‑optimised range. It is built for workloads that run reliably without high compute demands: web hosting and CMS platforms such as WordPress, mail and file servers, development environments and backup tasks.

Performance VPS runs on current‑generation AMD EPYC, with NVMe storage as standard and bandwidth of up to 1 Gbit/s. Most providers reserve such hardware for their premium plans. Contabo bundles it into a VPS at the usual price, so a small team or an individual developer can run a serious stack without the hefty bill that typically comes with it. In practice this suits databases under growing load, CI/CD pipelines, API‑driven applications with real traffic and frameworks for AI agents.

Max Performance VPS is the renamed VDS range. It fills the gap most providers leave open: when a shared VPS is no longer sufficient but a full Dedicated Server is more than you need. You receive dedicated CPU and RAM resources assigned exclusively to your instance, with no noisy neighbours. The range is intended for production environments with strict SLAs, high‑traffic platforms, SaaS and multi‑tenant applications, real‑time processing, as well as AI agents or lighter LLMs.

The restructuring comes against the backdrop of a broader market trend: RAM and hardware prices rose sharply over the past year and show no sign of stabilising. Contabo turned that into a product decision: three ranges instead of one, so the price reflects what each workload actually needs.
