Since when has the award existed?

The Web host of the Year award has been held annually on hosttest since 2015 and has since established itself as a fixed part of the German-speaking hosting landscape.

Who can take part in the vote?

All visitors to hosttest country pages who wish to share their experiences with providers in the hosting market are eligible to vote. Participation is open to everyone and does not require registration. In recent years more than 20,000 people have regularly cast their votes — a clear indication of the high level of interest and the growing importance of the award within the hosting community.

Which categories are voted for?

The Web host of the Year vote recognises the most popular providers in currently 14 categories. From the start, classic areas such as Web hosting, domains, VPS hosting and Dedicated Servers have been a fixed part of the vote. Over the years additional specialised categories have been added to reflect current developments and trends in the hosting market — for example Managed WordPress hosting, website builders, cloud servers or Exchange & e-mail hosting. In this way the award continuously adapts to changes in the industry and represents the full spectrum of modern hosting services.

With hosttest.co.uk and hosttest.es we are now also present in the United Kingdom and Spain and are expanding the award internationally beyond the German-speaking area with the categories Web host UK and Web host Spain.

Who is nominated?

Each year a selection of hosting providers who have distinguished themselves in the market through quality, performance and customer satisfaction are nominated in each category. These providers then compete against each other in the vote. The nominations reflect the diversity of the hosting market — from established companies with many years of experience to innovative newcomers that impress with modern concepts.
