For our Infomaniak VPS test, we chose the VPS Lite plan with 2 vCores, 2 GB RAM, and 40 GB storage, running a Linux operating system.

Infomaniak gives customers the choice between a monthly or annual billing period. Those who opt for a 12-month term receive a 10% discount compared to the monthly rate. This flexibility allows users to either test the VPS on a short-term basis or benefit from lower pricing over the long term.

Customers can upgrade to a higher VPS Lite plan at any time, although downgrades are not permitted during the selected contract period.

All Infomaniak VPS Lite servers are equipped with SSD NVMe storage, with capacity depending on the selected plan. The entry-level plan includes 20 GB, while the top-tier configuration offers up to 320 GB. The number of virtual CPU cores (vCores) also scales with the chosen plan – from a single vCore in the basic package up to 8 vCores in the most powerful version. Memory configurations range from 2 GB RAM to 16 GB RAM, providing flexibility for different performance requirements.

Each VPS comes with a dedicated IPv4 and IPv6 address, a connection speed of up to 500 Mbit/s, and unlimited traffic. Unlike the VPS Cloud plans, which include a guaranteed uptime of 99.99%, the VPS Lite line has no formal uptime guarantee. Backup functionality is also not included by default and must be purchased as a paid add-on.

Infomaniak places great emphasis on security and data protection. All servers come with robust DDoS protection to defend against attacks and ensure high availability, while an integrated firewall safeguards systems from unauthorized access.

During the ordering process at Infomaniak, you can specify the desired hardware configuration of your VPS, choose the operating system, and select the contract duration. You’ll also be prompted to create an SSH key, which will later be used to securely access your VPS via SSH.

As part of the ordering process, you’ll need to create a customer account with Infomaniak. This step requires you to provide personal details such as your address and phone number, as well as your payment information, which can include a credit card or PayPal. During this process, Infomaniak also suggests several optional add-ons – such as a backup feature or a renewal warranty – that can be purchased for an additional fee.

Once the payment is completed, your VPS order is processed, and all further details are sent to you by email. In some cases, Infomaniak may need to verify your identity before provisioning the server. The interface displays all key system information and allows you to stop, restart, or reinstall the server with a different operating system at any time. You can also configure firewall settings, manage linked domains, and gain direct access to the server through the integrated VNC console.

To evaluate the performance of the Infomaniak VPS, we conducted a series of benchmark tests on the system. These tests measured both the CPU performance and disk speed of the server. For this purpose, we used the well-known benchmarking tool YABS (Yet-Another-Bench-Script), which provides a reliable overview of system performance under real-world conditions.

Infomaniak VPS Benchmark: CPU Performance

The CPU performance of the Infomaniak VPS was tested using Geekbench 6, measuring both single-core and multi-core performance.

Infomaniak VPS Benchmark: Disk Speed

Disk performance was evaluated using the fio I/O testing tool. We analyzed both read/write speeds per second and input/output operations per second (IOPS).

Our Infomaniak VPS Lite achieved the following results:

In our performance test, the Infomaniak VPS delivers its strongest results on the CPU side. The multi-core performance stands out as above average compared to other VPS providers in the test, while the single-core performance ranks in the mid-range. However, the disk performance is noticeably weaker, with transfer speeds and IOPS results falling well below the industry average.

Our Experience with Infomaniak Support
