Selecting the VPS
Before ordering a VPS from IP-Projects, it’s important to take a close look at the available plans and their features. Server requirements can vary significantly depending on the type of project. To meet these different needs, IP-Projects offers a wide range of server solutions.
The Linux SSD VPS plans are ideal as affordable entry-level solutions, while the Linux NVMe VPS models are optimised for I/O-intensive workloads. For users requiring particularly large storage capacity, the Linux Storage VPS range is the right choice. In addition, the Linux VPS Promo section regularly features special offers and discounts. For more demanding use cases, IP-Projects also provides specialised configurations such as the Linux Compute VPS, designed for maximum single-core performance, and the Linux Ceph HA VPS, which focuses on high availability.
For the classic Linux SSD VPS models, four different plans are available, each offering a distinct level of performance:
IP-Projects Linux SSD VPS Offers
| Plan | vCores | RAM | SSD-NVMe |
|---|---|---|---|
| Linux SSD vServer S G2 | 2 | 4 GB | 40 GB |
| Linux SSD vServer M G2 | 4 | 8 GB | 80 GB |
| Linux SSD vServer L G2 | 8 | 16 GB | 160 GB |
| Linux SSD vServer XL G2 | 16 | 32 GB | 320 GB |
For our IP-Projects VPS test, we selected the Linux SSD vServer S G2 plan (2 vCores, 4 GB RAM, 40 GB SSD).
Important Contract Details
The VPS plans from IP-Projects are offered with flexible contract terms, allowing customers to tailor the duration and billing period to their individual needs. Depending on the selected prepayment period, discounts can be applied to the monthly fee: a 3% discount for six months in advance, 6% for twelve months, and 9% for twenty-four months. No discount is granted for monthly prepayment.
There is no setup fee, and the cancellation period is 14 days before the end of the month.
For the entry-level plan Linux SSD vServer S G2, however, a minimum contract term of three months applies.
Features
The IP-Projects VPS instances are hosted in a data centre located in Frankfurt am Main (Germany) and use KVM virtualization technology. For data storage, high-performance SAS SSDs in a RAID-10 configuration are employed, ensuring both fast read/write speeds and increased fault tolerance.
All VPS plans come with fast SSD storage. The entry-level plan includes 40 GB, which is modest but sufficient for basic applications. Higher-tier plans offer up to 320 GB, providing ample capacity even for storage-intensive projects.
Depending on the selected plan, between 2 and 12 vCPUs are available. RAM ranges from 4 GB in the entry-level model to 32 GB in the top tier, making the VPS suitable for a wide variety of performance requirements.
Each server is equipped with a 1 Gbit/s network connection, ensuring stable data transfer rates even under heavy load. Traffic is included under a fair-use policy, and both an IPv4 and IPv6 address are provided by default.
What Security Features Are Available?
To ensure high availability and operational stability, all VPS nodes at IP-Projects are redundantly connected to the network and equipped with dual power supplies, allowing defective components to be replaced during operation without downtime.
The nameservers are secured with DNSSEC, and all assigned IP addresses are protected via RPKI to prevent manipulation. Free backups from the last 24 hours are included by default and stored off-site in a separate data centre, ensuring data integrity even in the event of a fire or local failure.
Additionally, optional paid backup extensions are available, along with a customisable DDoS protection system (basic protection is free of charge) developed specifically for IP-Projects customers.
Administration Options
The VPS is managed through a user-friendly web interface that offers a wide range of features for system control and monitoring. Basic management options such as start, stop, restart, (re)installation, VNC remote access, as well as usage and traffic statistics, are available by default. Free backups from the past 24 hours can be managed directly via the panel — these backups are stored off-site in a separate data centre. In addition, temporary snapshots can be created directly from the server management area.
For operating system installation, all major Linux distributions are available via one-click setup, and users can also upload and mount their own ISO images if desired. The integrated VNC console provides full access to the virtual machine at any time. IP addresses can be managed easily, and reverse DNS/PTR entries can be configured directly from the interface.
Available operating systems: Ubuntu, Debian, Fedora, CentOS, AlmaLinux, openSUSE.

The VPS from IP-Projects impresses with a solid technical foundation and practical management capabilities. The combination of KVM virtualization, fast RAID-10 SSD storage, flexible hardware configurations, and a 1 Gbit/s connection provides a strong base for a wide range of use cases. This is complemented by a powerful administration panel, integrated backup solutions, and security features such as customisable DDoS protection. Overall, the offering is well-balanced and suitable for both beginners and more demanding projects.

Useability
In the next section, we take a closer look at the ordering process and management of the IP-Projects VPS.
IP-Projects VPS - Provision
During the ordering process, customers can first select the desired minimum contract term and billing period. A detailed overview of the total costs is then displayed. Before completing the order, it’s also possible to add optional services, such as a managed server option or extended backup solutions, allowing the setup to be tailored to individual requirements.
As part of the ordering process, it is necessary to create a customer account with IP-Projects. During registration, personal details such as your address and phone number are collected. Afterwards, you receive a complete order summary including the invoice, which you can then confirm to finalise the purchase. Payment can be made conveniently via direct debit, bank transfer, credit card, or PayPal. Once the order is completed, it is reviewed by an IP-Projects staff member, and all further details are sent by email. The server is then provisioned promptly, allowing you to begin setup and configuration without delay.
IP-Projects VPS - Management
Through the IP-Projects customer portal, all contract-related data of your account can be managed centrally. In addition to an overview of all booked products such as servers, domains, and web hosting packages, users can also update contact information and payment details as well as view invoices.
The portal also allows you to create support tickets and send requests directly to the IP-Projects customer service team, ensuring clear communication and efficient issue resolution.
The technical administration of your server is handled via the IP-Projects Server Panel. In addition to basic control functions such as start, stop, shutdown, and restart, you can also install operating systems — either from a selection of cloud images (e.g. common Linux distributions or Proxmox) or via your own uploaded ISO images.
Daily automatic backups can be restored directly from the panel, and you can also create manual snapshots at any time. Furthermore, the panel allows you to manage login credentials and DNS settings, while the integrated VNC console provides direct access to the server whenever needed.
A built-in monitoring system with live performance statistics rounds off the management experience, enabling you to keep an eye on your VPS resource usage at all times.
Conclusion on Useability
IP-Projects impresses with a clearly structured interface and logically arranged functions across both management panels, making them easily accessible for both beginners and experienced administrators. Thanks to the integrated control, installation, and backup options, key management tasks can be carried out directly in the browser without additional effort. The inclusion of VNC access, a snapshot feature, and live monitoring further enhances the convenience and efficiency of server administration. While the design of both panels appears somewhat outdated, it remains reliable and functional.

Costs
In the final section of our VPS test report, we take a look at pricing. Thanks to a wide range of available plans, there’s a suitable server configuration for nearly every budget. The monthly cost depends directly on the chosen specifications — higher CPU core counts, more RAM, and larger storage capacities naturally lead to higher prices. This flexible pricing structure allows both beginners with smaller requirements and users with resource-intensive projects to find an appropriate plan.
